SleepTraining & Eating My Words

This week we decided to sleep train baby Max. I swore I would never be the parent to sit and listen to a screaming helpless baby for as long it takes until they "get it". I am eating my words.  I know it's selfish but Max will be 9 months tomorrow and  I am losing my mind. So, here is to a week of heartbreak. Wish me luck.

Update:

After listening to Max scream for about 2.5 hours, checking on him every 20 minutes..I decided to go into the line of fire-the crib. I nursed him to sleep.

We have gone through sleep hell and back again in our house. Some of the most helpful stuff I read was from askmoxie.com She does a great explanation of why cry it out seems to work for some babies and makes things worse for others...worth a read. (I'm usually a lurker but have a 16 month old who didn't sleep well for a very long time)...

Sorry it's hard. Many moms will give you their advise and say you must do it and it works. I really think it depends on your child. Do what's best for you. We tried it with John and it wasnt for us... we have our own routine and pattern that seems to work just fine. Dont force it..

Good Luck!

Hmmmm, I'll try again. askmoxie.com is the site itself...I'll see if I can link it differently.

askmoxie.org SORRY! It's org, not com :) and, here's the link to "tension increasers". Basically, some babies will blow off steam crying and drift off to sleep after a little bit...otherwise (like my son) will scream FOREVER (or at least it seems that way--he will cry until he pukes and then cry some more). These are "tension increasers"--they just go into hyperdrive and will freak out for a very long time...
